Airline and package holiday provider Jet2 has officially launched its new south east base at Stansted Airport
The travel brand, which encompasses Jet2 and Jet2holidays, has launched routes to 21 European airports, including Ibiza, Zante and Malaga, from the Essex airport and revealed that the new base is set to create 250 jobs from next Spring.
The routes are all due to launch next summer and the airline has also announced that six new Boeing 737-800 will be servicing the 83 weekly flights from south east airport.
Andrew Cowan, Chief Executive, London Stansted Airport commented: “We’re delighted that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has chosen Stansted as its ninth UK base and the first in the South of England.
“Jet2’s arrival at Stansted from next spring will create 250 new jobs at the airport, and support more jobs across our region, as well as offering passengers in London and the East of England a fantastic choice of flights and package holidays to 21 of Europe’s most popular and exciting destinations.”
Stansted will be the ninth UK base for the Yorkshire-based airline and holiday brand, which has embarked on significant expansion across the country in recent years.
Steve Heapy, Chief Executive Officer of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays added: “Today is an incredibly exciting chapter in our history as it marks the day we bring our family friendly formula to the south of England and become a truly national brand.”
