Salford Royal and Vivark Embark on a £2.5 Contract

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust has entered a contract with a leading North West social enterprise to maintain and refresh all of its buildings. The contract, which will usher in a new era for the hospital, is reportedly worth £500k a year, and will last for approximately five years.

Vivark, a Property refurbishment and Total Facilities Management company, will carry out refurbishment, alterations and estates services work to all the various properties at the Salford Royal NHS Trust Foundation site.

As a social enterprise, Vivark deliver social impact in the areas they operate in. Vivark have pledged to continually reinvest profits back into the Salford area, to help local people and grassroots organisations strengthen their communities.

Phil Webster, Vivark’s Group Director of Facilities and Asset Management, said:

“We are delighted to have won this contract. Salford Royal Foundation Trust is an ‘Outstanding’ Trust, and we’re honoured to be working alongside them. The hospital cares for the community, and in turn we’ll care for the hospital facilities.

“To ensure we continue to go the extra mile in everything we do, we pledge to make sure we give something back to the area, strengthening local communities and providing people with what they need to lay the foundations for a brighter future.

“This is a milestone in the growing relationship between Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Vivark, and the people living in the local area. We’re very much looking forward to what the next five years will hold.”

The history of Salford Royal Hospital stretches back to 1882, with the opening of Salford Union Infirmary. In 1990 Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust was established, uniting the area’s various medical facilities in a single foundation dedicated to caring for the area.

The foundation became the first in the North to receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Care Quality Commission. Many of the buildings are currently undergoing redevelopment, and the partnership with Vivark is the latest chapter in the foundation’s success story.

Vivark is part of The First Ark Group, an organisation dedicated to boosting the social enterprise economy across the North West and even further afield. First Ark work across communities to create social and economic prosperity wherever they can, encouraging everyone to put people before profit.
