Deliveroo fends off Uber and Amazon with launch of worldwide corporate service

On-demand food startup Deliveroo is to launch its new corporate service this week as it continues to grapple with US giants Amazon and Uber.

The London-headquartered business is rolling out its Deliveroo for Business service, which caters exclusively for corporate customers, across all of its 100 markets and already boasts British Land, Innocent Drinks and Eventbrite as early customers.

Providing a full corporate service, including employee lunches and events catering, the service is to provide complete visibility and transparency, with the ability for managers to set spending and timing limits too.

Speaking to City AM, Head of Deliveroo for Business Christine Oddy, said: “Deliveroo for Business gives employees a huge variety of food to fuel their hard work, from early risers enjoying a healthy breakfast, to brilliantly catered meetings, to late-night workers wanting to treat themselves - there is something for everyone.”

“It also provides full visibility and an easy streamlined expense process to make life easier for office managers and finance directors who are able to fully customise their account.”

The launch is part of Deliveroo’s drive to profitability as the likes of UberEATs and Amazon Restaurants continue to encroach on its turf in the capital and in its other markets.

In turn, the London on-demand delivery firm is itself encroaching on the turf of the likes of startup City Pantry, which closed a Buzzfeed-backed £1.1m funding round in August, another company which is hoping to corner the lucrative corporate catering market.
