Walker signs for Blyth Town FC
Blyth Town FC First Team has snapped up centre forward, Dean Walker as part of its First Team shake up.
25-year-old Walker was “well sought after” for some time due to an enviable score record throughout his Northern League career.
The move is a timely and positive one for the First Team’s dynamics believes manager Mick Connor as he vows to refresh and strengthen the division two team.
“I have had my eye on Dean for some time, he is a fantastic centre forward who works well with fellow team mates having previously played with many of them during his Northern League career,” said Connor.
“Following our come-back win last week against Alnwick Town (8-2), and after a disastrous start to the Vase cup rounds, I believe this shake up is what we need.
“Along with a couple of other new signings in the pipeline, faith is being restored in a team that I know can be a strong contender in this league and continue to win games.”
Previously playing for division one clubs including North Shields and Newcastle Benfield, Walker was tempted by the Club’s ambition and drive to work its way up the football pyramid.
He said: “I was ready for a change and when Mick approached me about joining Blyth Town, I was excited as the team is getting really strong, the club is ambitious and it is exciting to be a part of that.
“I hope I can be the poacher that they need working with a lot of other strong strikers such as Day, to be a real asset to the team.
“Looking at the bigger picture, with the standard of players here we should be pushing forward to the top half of the league ready for promotion.”
The team won another away game against Thornaby on Saturday (24th) with a 6-1 victory.
Walker will be playing in Blyth Town FC First Team’s next away game against Darlington RA on Tuesday September 27 and again on Saturday September 1, October against Esh Winning before returning to home ground on the 8th against Tow Law Town.
