Yorkshire housing firm completes £1.2m Roundhay land acquisition
Chartford Homes, the independent housebuilder, has acquired a 2.6-acre brownfield site in Leeds.
The housebuilder acquired the land at Elmete Green, Elmete Lane, Roundhay, which was previously the site of Elmete Primary Centre, from Leeds City Council for £1.2m.
Chartford Homes, which specialises in developing niche sites in locations in West Yorkshire, has also gained detailed planning permission from Leeds City Council for a new housing scheme on the site.
Building work has started on nine five-bedroom detached and linked detached homes with double garages. The first homes are due to be available for occupation next summer.
Chris Thompson, Chartford Homes managing director, said: “This is an attractive site in an affluent area of Leeds, close to important amenities including Roundhay Park and Leeds Golf Club.
“The site is also within 550m of Roundhay schools primary campus which will ensure admission to Roundhay secondary school, recently judged ‘Outstanding’ in all categories by Ofstead, and we expect this scheme to appeal to family home buyers wanting to take advantage of this valuable local resource.”
