The owers of Seven Brothers Brewery

Family-owned Salford brewery expands with Manchester bar and eatery

A brewery based in Salford Quays is launching its first city centre bar after landing a £200k investment through crowdfunding.

Seven Brothers Brewery, located at the Enterprise Centre on Daniel Adamson Road, was founded by brothers Keith, Kit, Guy, Luke, Daniel, Nathan and Greg McAvoy around two-and-a-half years ago.

With the firm now producing seven craft beers, the brothers decided to embark on the next step in their business strategy by opening a bar where they can sell their own brew and serve Italian food.

Seven Brothers Brewery has secured the lease for a two-story property in the Ice Plant on Blossom Street, in the Ancoats area of Manchester.

To be known as the Seven Brothers Craft Beer Bar and Kitchen, the 1,800-plus sq ft venue will feature a large ground-floor bar along with a smaller bar and a kitchen within its basement level.

The restaurant space, which has around 80 covers, was refurbished with the help of the cash raised through the crowdfunding project.

The lease on the property was secured with the support of Martin Long and Paul Hardy, North West law firm Napthens’ commercial property partners.

Martin said: “Seven Brothers Brewery has done extremely well in a relatively short space of time, becoming an interesting and viable business, with a solid plan for further growth.

“I look forward to seeing the business grow in the future.”

The Seven Brothers Craft Beer Bar and Kitchen is expected to host several launch nights in December ahead of its official opening before the New Year.

Greg McAvoy commented: “We tried going to banks for funding but it was quite difficult, and saw the way other companies had gone the crowdfunding route.

“We were more than happy to let people who actually drink beer and are interested in the business buy part of the company.”

He added: “It’s allowed us to fund the new bar, equipment and extra staff, so we’ve not looked back.”

Greg has also revealed that, if their Ancoats venture is successful, the company hopes to open a second Manchester venue before looking further afield at locations across the North West and beyond.
