Jones Bros support pitch perfect football club

North Wales family firm Jones Bros is on the ball after sponsoring a junior football team.

Amlwch Town Junior Club Under 14’s have a new home kit, thanks to a £390 donation from Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK.

The Anglesey club is the third football club to win the support of Jones Bros recently, with Bala Town FC and Caernarfon FC also benefiting.

A pitch perfect North Wales football club that has attracted major investment is also getting support from leading civil engineering firm Jones Bros.

Dafabet Welsh Premier league club Bala Town FC is one of only 12 clubs across the whole of Wales to benefit from a new, all-weather, 3G football pitch.

The pitch, costing more than £500,000, was secured with funding from the Sports Council for Wales, the Welsh FA and Gwynedd County Council. It will prevent games being rained off, in a high rainfall area, enabling sports and activities to take place all year round. Maes Tegid, home to Bala Town FC, will become the central hub for all ages of the community to participate in sporting activities.

A £1,000 donation from family firm Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK will help the club to lower the cost of using the pitch to enable a wide range of groups to benefit from it.

Gareth Moon, commercial manager of Bala Town FC, founded in 1880, said: “We are really proud of our new all-weather pitch, which will make a huge difference to the running of the club.

“With Bala being in a high rainfall area, countless matches have been called off in the past due to the pitch being flooded. This won’t happen now so the pitch is a terrific asset.

“There are lots of organisations and groups that want to use the pitch and we are keen to keep prices affordable so it is accessible to as wide a variety of people as possible. The donation from Jones Bros will enable us to do this and we are very grateful.”

John Dielhof, managing director of Ruthin-based Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK, said: “When one of our employees who lives in Bala told us about the developments and fund-raising efforts at Bala FC we were keen to help.

“As a family firm that has employees who live across North Wales, we always welcome suggestions for worthwhile projects that we can support.”

Founded in the 1950s and employing almost 350 people, Jones Bros has grown rapidly in the last decade. It is currently working on contracts in various sectors including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, flood and marine defence and renewable energy projects around the UK.
