British AI company appoints technology industry leader

BenevolentAI, a leading British artificial intelligence (“AI”) company has appointed Bart Swanson as a non-executive director. Bart is a disruptive technology industry leader having held senior positions at DeepMind, Summly, Onavo, Badoo GSI Commerce (later eBay Enterprise) and Amazon.

Bart previously served on the boards of DeepMind, Summly and Onavo, acquired by Google, Yahoo and Facebook respectively. During 2010 and 2011, Bart was Chief Operating Officer of Badoo, prior to which he spent three years as Managing Director at GSI Commerce International (later eBay Enterprise). Before joining GSI Commerce International, Bart held several roles, including a General Manager at Amazon.com, where he was one of the key executives in establishing and expanding Amazon.com’s footprint in Germany, France and the United Kingdom between 1998-2001.

Bart is currently an Advisor to Horizons Ventures and holds Directorships with Viv Labs, Sentient Technologies, Cortica Ltd, Shine Security, Zoom.us, Hola, Modern Meadow and Impossible Foods Inc. among others.
