Halton-based LPW Technology announces 120 new jobs alongside £20m investment drive

LPW Technology Ltd has unveiled plans to invest millions in its Cheshire operations and create dozens of new jobs.

The Halton-based firm, which produces metal powders for 3D printing, made the announcement after winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

LPW will now seek to create 120 jobs by 2018 and invest £20m in developing a new facility at its Halton base.

During the last three years the firm has seen its overseas footprint skyrocket, with exports growing by 300% to account for 70% of overall sales during the period.

This year alone, LPW’s exports accounted for 80% of total sales of around £11.5m

LPW’s founder and CEO, Dr Phil Carroll, said: “We have been first to market in this developing industry.

“With our ambitious growth plans and the support of our amazing staff we now aim to be a truly great engineering company.”

He continued: “We will need the support of all the people in the Merseyside area to make this a success – without a skilled workforce we would be nothing.

“Our new facility will ensure the North West is at the forefront of materials for this new and exciting industry by exporting our products worldwide.”

In addition to its Runcorn head office, LPW Technology also has a research facility at Sci-Tech Daresbury and overseas operations in the US and Germany.

Halton Borough Council Leader Cllr Rob Polhill hailed the announcement as “fantastic news” for Halton.

He commented: “Manufacturing growth is key to the region’s economic success and LPW is investing expertise in developing technologies to bring more business to the North West and create tremendous job opportunities in the growing and exciting field of 3D printing technology.

“We are proud that a globally respected company is based here in the borough, employing local residents and proving what an excellent advanced manufacturing sector we have here.”
