Leeds building solution firm hands over UK's largest new warehousing facility
Projex Building Solutions, the Leeds-based building solution firm, has handed over the largest new warehousing facility to be built in the UK this year.
The one million sq ft distribution centre has been developed by Mountpark Logistics for retail giant Amazon and will create at least 2000 jobs.
Projex has provided project management, cost consultancy and health and safety monitoring services for the £100m development.
Constructed by Winvic, the unit measures 1,600 ft (487m) by 650 ft (198m), covers an area the equivalent of 20 football pitches and has 86 docks for articulated lorries.
Built on the outskirts of Elliston near Coalville, the unit was completed only 10 months after instruction and is the first phase of a larger industrial park that Mountpark will complete over the next six months.
Unit 2 is a 300,000 sq ft warehouse due for completion in October 2016 and Unit 3 is a 60,000 sq ft facility due for completion in March 2017, subject to planning.
