North East investment continues for accountancy firm

An independent accountancy firm is continuing its investment in the North East with a senior appointment to its Corporate Finance Team to help local businesses grow.

David Fish has joined the Baldwins Accountancy Group in the role of Corporate Finance Director for the North East region which covers eight different offices. This follows two recent acquisitions of Rowlands Accountants and Evolution by the Baldwins Accountancy Group, building a network of offices covering Hexham, Ponteland, Portobello, Crook, Sunderland, Alnwick, Newcastle and Wynyard.

His new role will see him leading on a variety of fundraising projects, mergers, acquisitions and disposals in the region adding to the excellent service clients already receive form the existing office network.

David joins with over 17 years of experience across corporate finance, auditing and accounting in the North East.

He has spent the last three years in industry working as Finance Director within a high growth business. Prior to this he was an Associate within local accountancy practices in the North East for 13 years, specialising within corporate finance

David, said: “I’m really excited to be joining a growing accountancy group at a time when businesses in the North East are in buoyant mood.

“Working within businesses and accountancy practices has given me a breadth of experience that enables me to empathise with businesses and the complexity of their situations, and an increased ability to understand their needs.

“A number of these locations haven’t had access to corporate finance before, so one of my key focuses will be working with our clients and introducing local businesses to different ways they can grow their business.

“We are currently seeing a trend of business owners looking to plan for their succession, so a lot of work is going into developing exit strategies to ensure business continues to grow.”

The Baldwins Accountancy Group has an annual turnover of £40 million and employs more than 600 staff, and is currently undergoing a nationwide expansion plan which has seen it acquire a wide range of other accountancy firms so far this year.
