Major electrical distributor expands into Home Counties
An award-winning wholesale electrical distributor, based in Colnbrook, is expanding into Watford with a pledge to support the needs of local electrical contractors and builders merchants, following its acquisition of a trade supply business in Croxley Business Park.
Rapid Electrical Distributors, started by St Albans entrepreneur Nick Edwell in 2004, which counts Crossrail as one of its clients, has merged with Watford Electrical Solutions, that’s traded from Greenhill Crescent for over 15 years.
Having rebranded its unit Rapid Electrical (Watford), the business, which employs six staff, is now able to offer significant savings to local tradespeople on supplies ranging from cable to plug sockets, thanks to Rapid’s membership of a major international buying group.
Commenting on the expansion of his business, Nick Edwell, Managing Director of Rapid Electrical Distributors, said:
“Watford represents an extremely good opportunity for our business to develop thanks to its connections and the thriving diversity of companies operating from Croxley Business Park and surrounding areas. We are excited at the prospect of supporting local electrical contractors and builders merchants with a highly competitive service, delivered by the same team and hopefully, some new staff in the months ahead.”
Steve Charalambous, who worked with Nick Edwell some 18 years ago, started Watford Electrical Solutions in 2001 and continues as Manager of Rapid Electrical (Watford). He added:
“Rapid Electrical is a highly regarded distributor across London and the South East and its market leading status will bring added value to the electrician and building community in Watford. The change of ownership is particularly well timed, as many sole traders and business owners will be looking to make savings in the wake of the Brexit vote, during a period of uncertainty.”
