North East footy event ready for kick off

ONE OF the longest running football quizzes in the North East is back and ready to kick-off in Tyneside for another edition.

Samso’s Footy Quiz, will be returning to Central Bar, Gateshead, for its 16th edition on Saturday 22nd October and will see teams of 1-6 players tackle the popular footy quiz.

The event, which regularly packs out the Central Bar’s upstairs room, kicks off at 8pm and gives football fans the chance to score some serious cash prizes.

Samso, quizmaster and founder, said: “I thought up the quiz back in 2011 after being really keen to go to a footy quiz, but not being able to find one in the region.

“It’s gob-smacking to see how popular the quiz has become and to be running our 16th event in five years is totally mint.

“We hope people will continue to come along, have a good laugh and of course compete for the top prize… however we all know everyone comes for the Central Bar’s free mountain of half time Yorkshire Puddings”

Quiz places is only £2 per person, with all proceeds ploughed back into the event or used as prize money for the winning teams. The last quiz winners walked away with £50.00.

There are also several ‘pints rounds’ throughout the quiz with the team guessing closest to the correct answer receiving a round of drinks for their table.
