£7m contract awarded to transform former Leeds city centre head office of Lloyd’s Bank

The former regional head office of Lloyd’s Bank at 7 Park Row in Leeds is set to be transformed into a nine-storey office development.

Construction company Harris has secured a £7m contract to refurbish the property on behalf of CBRE Global Investors.

Built in the early 1970s, the brown granite-clad 12 storey building straddles the intersection of Park Row and Bond Street, close to Leeds Railway Station and Trinity Leeds shopping centre.

The works, set to commence in November 2016 and be completed in September 2017, will provide nine storeys of Grade A standard office accommodation, with shell space for a new restaurant on the ground floor.

The project will be delivered with a BREEAM Very Good rating and a key feature of the work will be the creation of additional floor space via cantilevered extensions of 1.5m to the upper floors on three elevations of the existing building.

Danny Mulqueen, managing director of Harris, commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded this project to bring a new lease of life to one of the landmark buildings in Leeds’ central business district.

“Harris is rapidly raising its profile as a leading contractor in the Yorkshire area and the Park Row project will be an exciting addition to our portfolio and reinforces our reputation for continually undertaking logistically challenging works.”

In 2013 Harris also refurbished the Grade II Listed Building at 19-20 Park Row to provide commercial office space.
