Event will help firms prepare for water deregulation
Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) is hosting a free event to help businesses prepare for radical changes in the water industry.
The deregulation of the water industry in England kicks in from April 2017 and will allow businesses to choose the best supplier for their needs, regardless of where their premises are located. This is a radical move away from current practice, where companies get their water and sewerage services from a single provider located nearby.
The new law is being brought in to increase competition in the market and give corporate customers more choice. It will also make it easier for them to switch supplier and save significant amounts of money on their water bills.
To help businesses to prepare for the changes, GAS is hosting a special event at Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham on Thursday October 27, 9.00am-10.30am. Entitled “Water great way to save money: what businesses need to know about water industry deregulation”, the event will feature keynote speeches from senior experts including John Mowbray, former corporate affairs director at Northumbrian Water and a well-known figure in the North East business arena. Other big players in the water industry will also be speaking, offering a broad overview of the changes, how they’ll affect firms and how the new system already works in Scotland.
Dan Smith, head of energy at GAS, said: “Deregulation will lead to some of the most radical changes to the water industry in a generation. It’s therefore vital that businesses start preparing now to capitalise on this new legislation, which will give them a great opportunity to save thousands of pounds on their water bills.
“Businesses need to start carrying out audits of their water consumption now so that they’re in a position to take advantage of the best deals when they become available. This event is geared towards helping them prepare for the changes and making sure they don’t miss out.”
Guests are invited to arrive at 8.30am for a 9.00am start. The event will last around one hour, with an additional 30 minutes of networking, and will finish at approximately 10.30am.
