Discovery subscription startup poised to scale internationally after six-figure crowdfund
London-based Wonderush.com, which bills itself as the UK’s first discovery subscription platform, has hit its crowdfunding target and is now setting its sights on global expansion.
The tech startup launched the crowdfunding drive on Seedrs at the end of August, and has now hit its £200k target.
Styling itself as a Netflix-inspired subscription service, Wonderush has users pay a flat monthly fee of £29 a month which then allows them to book themselves onto an unlimited number of ‘lifestyle experiences’, classes and other events, while participating businesses benefit from new customers filling up last minute unsold spaces.
Nelson Sivalingam, founder of Wonderush.com, said that he was ‘thrilled’ that the startup had reached its target so quickly, and was particularly pleased that a number of activity hosts had opted to invest in the business.
He commented: “As this is the first crowdfunding campaign we’ve launched for Wonderush.com, I am thrilled that we’ve reached our target amount, especially in such a short space of time.
“I’m even more thrilled that a number of our activity hosts have decided to invest in the business they’re a part of!”
The platform already boasts 1,000 activity hosts in London alone, servicing a subscriber base of over 4,000 people, and has previously been backed by Fuel.Ventures, tennis player Andy Murray and MyVoucherCodes’ founder Mark Pearson.
Nelson now intends to take the service to other UK cities, and is already eyeing expansion across the Atlantic and throughout Europe following the successful crowdfunding campaign.
He concluded: “We’re really excited to start taking the Wonderush service to other UK cities. I’m sure in no time we will be making people’s lives more awesome across Europe and the USA!”
