Oldham’s SPAW Engineering acquired by Leicester-based Shield Group.
North West precision engineering company SPAW Engineering Limited has been acquired by Leicester-based Shield Group.
Completed for an undisclosed sum, the deal will see Shield Group aiming to grow its foothold within the automotive industry through SPAW’s client base in the sector.
The Leeds-based corporate finance team of accountants Mazars advised on the sale.
SPAW Engineering currently operates from a 40,000 sq ft site in Oldham and specialises in the machining of turbo charger components for the automotive and commercial vehicle industry.
Shield Group provides machining and assembly solutions for the construction, power generation, off-highway and automotive sectors.
Mazars’ corporate finance director, Alex Baskeyfield, said: “We were delighted to work with the SPAW shareholder on this transaction.
“The acquisition is a strong fit and helps the Shield Group strengthen its presence in this sector of the market.”
Alex Baskeyfield and Chris Dale from the Mazars corporate finance team advised SPAW Engineering, while Sarah Harrison and Jonathan Simms from Leeds law firm Clarion provided legal advice.
Roy Botterill from law firm Shakespeare Martineau advised Shield Group on the transaction.
