Supermarket giant Asda names Newcastle’s Utilitywise as IoT solutions supplier

Newcastle-based Utilitywise plc has been selected by Asda Stores Limited as the Walmart-owned supermarket retailer’s chosen supplier of Internet of Things (IoT) Building solutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, the independent utility cost management consultancy will work closely with Asda’s facilities services partner, City Holdings, to deploy Utilitywise’s Dell-based Integrated Technology Management Solution across its UK estate.

The Utilitywise solution connects a wide range of in-store systems and assets ranging from refrigeration and lighting to fire alarms and security.

Connecting disparate devices together in a single, intelligent network enables a more granular level of control and the potential to provide much higher cost savings which enhances the operation of existing building technologies, improving both building and business performance.

Andy Rhodes, Vice President and General Manager, IoT, Dell, said: “We’re delighted that our strategic partnership with Utilitywise continues to grow.

“IoT solutions are an impactful part of successful building automation initiatives, and we’re proud Dell and the Edge Gateway 5000 Series are helping Asda improve their operations and better serve their shoppers.”

Tony Parkinson, Head of Engineering, City Holdings, added: “Utilitywise met the challenge and have consistently delivered beyond the team’s expectations a solution which meets all of our requirements.

“The feedback from my team and my own experience in relation to both the products and ways of working have been extremely positive. Working together will generate a major benefit to our customers”.
