High Force Research takes further space at Teesside's Wilton Centre

Chemical research and development company High Force Research is doubling the size of its laboratory on Teesside.

Opening a new 1018 sq. ft. laboratory at the Wilton Centre in February this year, the firm has already outgrown the space.

Its new facility, based at Redcar’s 75-acre business and science hub, will double the company’s presence at the site.

Founded in 1988, High Force Research is an independent company that supports medical and scientific research advances.

Originally based at the Mountjoy Research Centre on the Durham University campus, High Force Research relocated to its present location in Bowburn on the outskirts of Durham in 1996.

Dr Neil Sim, Research Leader at the Wilton Centre said: “One of the reasons we decided on the Wilton Centre for our second location was because we knew there was potential to expand, which is really important as our Bowburn site is now full.

“As we’re in the process of recruiting more chemists to join our existing team based at the Wilton Centre, it was the ideal time to look at expanding further.”

“The new laboratory space has proved to be an ideal setting and features research facilities custom designed for chemical development.

“There are over 60 other companies here at the Wilton Centre and we’re already finding there are lots of networking and collaboration possibilities with other research-orientated businesses based in the area too.”

Wilton Centre’s site director, Steve Duffield said: “We’re thrilled that High Force Research is expanding its operations here at the Wilton Centre. The company is a valuable member of our business community and it’s great that it is continuing to grow its highly skilled team based here in Teesside.”
