Bardsley Construction to deliver £27.6m Northern Quarter PRS scheme

Building firm Bardsley Construction has been chosen by developer Mulbury to deliver its £27.6m apartment scheme in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The project, located on the corner of Port Street and Great Ancoats Street, will encompass 135 homes across eight to 14 storeys for the private rented sector (PRS)

Bardsley, which is based in Tameside, Greater Manchester, will begin work on site in November.

Once complete, the Port Street development will comprise mainly one- and two-bedroom apartments with balconies, a reception area, 6,000 sq ft of ground level office space and communal rooftop gardens.

The scheme is designed by Manchester-based Tim Groom Architects and financed by property investor M&G Real Estate.

Bardsley Construction’s procurement director, Ged Rooney, said: “Our hard-earned reputation for the successful delivery of high quality residential developments such as Port Street on time and on budget in locations throughout the north of England is reflected in this prestigious appointment by Mulbury.”

Mulbury’s James Alderson, who heads up Mulbury City, the Lymm-based firm’s division focusing on city centre build-to-rent projects, commented: “Bardsley Construction has an impressive project portfolio and, importantly for us, a successful record of building out large-scale developments in city centre locations.

“We look forward to getting on site and delivering what will be a landmark scheme in the Northern Quarter.”

The first occupants are expected to move into the Port Street scheme in Summer 2018.
