CBI name new assistant regional director for the North East

The CBI has announced the appointment of Alistair Westwood as its new assistant regional director in the North.

Alistair has been actively engaged with businesses in the North East and Cumbria region throughout his career, most recently through his role at Nigel Wright Consultancy.

Alistair has helped businesses across a broad range of sectors to identify and develop their talent across a range of disciplines, most notably in Finance and HR.

Alistair said: “It’s a privilege to be working with North East businesses to help create the right environment for them to thrive in, and to make sure that our strong business voice is heard, both regionally and nationally.

“Our area has a rich diversity of businesses, from world-leading technology, manufacturing and business services companies to a dynamic and growing group of smaller businesses that often link into these sectors.

“Given the right environment, these firms will continue to propel regional and national growth.”

Sarah Glendinning, CBI North East director, added: “I’m excited to have Alistair alongside me in this role. Having grown up and spent a large part of his career in the North East, he is well placed to represent the region’s business interests.

“His links and experience of working with many of our members and stakeholders already has enabled him to hit the ground running and make a positive impact very quickly.”

Prior to joining Nigel Wright, Alistair trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers in its Newcastle office where he provided assurance services to clients spanning a wide range of sizes and industries.
