Gap Systems appoints Joe Simons as Group Director

Leading end-to-end Software as a Service (SaaS) product design and lifecycle management solution provider, Gap Systems, today announced the appointment of Joe Simons as Group Director.

With over 20 years of leadership and business development at board level, Joe has a reputation for founding, growing and managing companies in fast paced and highly complex markets. Specialising in the convergence of technology and marketing service provision, Joe has worked with some of the largest global brands, including Avon, Nestlé, M&S and Volkswagen (VW) Group.

An experienced entrepreneur, prior to joining Gap Systems, Joe founded and held senior board positions at Silicon Imaging Limited (SI) - a leading graphic art supplier of printing technology and marketing solution, which was sold after 12 years of growth to Mitsubishi Corporation – and Total Marketing Solutions (TMS). TMS created Media Centre, one of the most widely used marketing resource management (MRM) platforms in Europe, which was acquired by marketing services agency Inspired Thinking Group (ITG) in 2010. Joe joined the Board at ITG where he played a key role in growing the business and in developing Media Centre. ITG has grown to a £90m operation in just six years.

In his role as Group Director at Gap Systems, Joe will be integral in the development of new strategic accounts and partnerships in key territories as the business looks to continue on its ambitious international growth trajectory; already in 2016, GAP systems has increased revenues by 30% year-on-year.

Paul Goldberg, founder and Managing Director at Gap Systems, commented: “With the ability to identify, develop and deliver new products to market which support packaging project management and marketing resource management, Joe has been at the forefront of enhancing the changing face of SaaS solution and their delivery into the Retail, FMCG and Marketing Agency sectors for many years,”

“It’s not just his wealth of experience that perfectly places Joe to support our next phase of growth as we look to consolidate our market leading position as an enabler of global brands and retailers packaging NPD and PLM solution requirements. As an investor to the business, Joe comes with an enviable track record of launching and developing multi-million pound businesses within the industry - and as a shareholder on the board, Joe will be integral in the next stage of our journey,” Paul said.

Commenting on his appointment, Joe Simons said: “Gap Systems’ solution is a highly innovative, flexible solution, which represents a step change in how packaging software tools can be delivered quickly and cost effectively, helping FMCG brands, retailers and pharmaceutical businesses increase the efficiency of their NPD and PLM processes – in some cases increasing efficiencies by up to 75%.”

“At a time where the pace of change for brands and retailers has never been so fast, competitive advantage lies in getting to market quickly, smartly and cost effectively, whilst having the agility to deal with new digital disruptions and external innovations linked to ever-changing consumer demands. That’s exactly what Smartflow underpins and I am looking forward to helping Gap Systems deliver, as it continues to work with more of the world’s leading brands,” Simons concluded.
