New Retailers at Preston Shopping Centre
New retailers have been secured at a shopping centre on the doorstep of a £75m regeneration area of Preston city centre.
St John’s Centre, a value-led shopping mall comprising 23 retail units totalling 70,000 sq ft, bought by clients of Praxis Real Estate Management Limited, is experiencing a revival ahead of the multi-million pound re-development projects planned for the city’s northern quarter.
Two new tenants have signed up to the centre this month which will see a Food Weighhouse and Top One Uniform move into the part-covered mall. Robert Pinkus & Co. LLP and Jamieson Mills are joint marketing agents for the centre.
Located on the north side of Preston, in-between the Market Quarter and the Grade II listed Preston Bus Station, St John’s Centre links the two regeneration sites and is perfectly positioned to benefit from the extensive re-development, becoming a dominant gateway to the traditional retail area, the market quarter and the newly created leisure hub planned for the bus station site.
Joe Assalone, Partner at Robert Pinkus & Co. said, “The tremendous footfall and affordable rents make it a very attractive option for retailers who want to position themselves for future success. St John’s Centre will retain its value-led position which opens up the market to a wide variety of retailers and as the retail and leisure focus of the city shifts to the north, the location of St John’s will be strengthened further by substantial footfall uplift directly through the mall.”
“We are currently in talks with interested parties for some of the space that is still available to let but given the success and high levels of interest so far, we anticipate the centre to be trading at full capacity in the near future.”
Benefits to St John’s Centre of over £75m Doorstep Regeneration Spend:
- £23m investment in bus station regeneration and adjoining car park including a new public realm to the rear of St John’s
- Construction of a youth sports centre
- £50m multi-screen cinema and restaurant development
- New bowling alley and leisure complex fronting bus station and public realm
- Refurbished Victorian outdoor market with new glazed pods
