Training specialist is keynote speaker at national conference
Director of Derbyshire leadership, HR and coaching firm Awbery, Mary Sisson, is to address more than 100 senior representatives of the UK’s construction industry at a leading annual conference for the sector in Staffordshire next month.
Organisers of the annual one-day ClayTech Conference, The Ceramics Society, which is a division of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, have invited Ms Sisson to deliver the keynote presentation at the event at Stafford County Showground on the 17th November.
Ms Sisson has over 20 years’ experience of lecturing about leadership and development, particularly exploring the importance and role of effective communication in the workplace that is a major aspect of her own ongoing research programme.
In her presentation, she will report the findings of this study, and explore the key influences and preferred communication styles of four generations, and ways to ensure effective engagement in the world of business and management:
“The way we communicate is vital within leadership. It’s important that the right messages are communicated effectively to ensure organisational efficiency,” explains Mary.
“In today’s working environment, we are often required to communicate across multiple generations and, in order to achieve maximum impact, it is important that consideration is given to the most effective way to convey your message across each of the generations at work today - the Traditionalist, Boomers, Generation X, and Generation Y.
“Awbery has conducted a series of ground breaking studies during its six-year research programme, that have identified and explored the role of education and development amongst senior executives, business leaders and HR professionals. The findings will support much of the insights I will share in my presentation,” she says. “I am pleased and honoured to be invited to be keynote speaker at this year’s prestigious conference.”
The conference has been held each year since 2001, and the theme for this year’s event is how to maximise productivity of the workforce through education, training and health and safety. The programme includes presentations from technology providers that deliver innovative solutions to the production challenges facing the heavy clay sector.
Speaking at the conference alongside Awbery’s Mary Sisson are Verity O’Keefe, Senior Employment and Skills Policy Advisor of the EEF, Alan Norbury, Industrial CTO of Siemens PLC, Mark Ridgeway, President of the Manufacturing Technologies Association, and Andrew Brunt of NDC Technologies Ltd.
Awbery has its head office in Derbyshire and delivers high-impact leadership and management development programmes, HR and coaching solutions to multi-national organisations across the UK. For more information: www.awberymanagement.co.uk, Tel: 01283 703828, and follow @AwberyTweet.
