145-home Stockton development gets the greenlight
A new housing development to be built on farmland south of Kirklevington, Stockton-on-Tees, has been given the greenlight.
Stockton Council approved a plan for 145 homes to be built along with a new convenience store, bowling green, tennis courts and parking zone that will create over 200 jobs.
Originally presented by Jomast Developments in July last year, the proposals were given the thumbs up after the property developer reduced the number of houses from 175 to 145 following public feedback.
Further, Jomast has identified and committed to protecting a number of key local views, including the Grade-II listed Church of St Martin.
The company’s development director, Adam Hearld, commented: “We have spent a considerable amount of time and effort creating a scheme that retains and builds upon the strength and traditional character of Kirklevington whilst also recognising the importance of new housing to meet demand and contribute to the sustainability of the village, its facilities and local enterprise.
“Our overarching vision is to deliver a range of high quality homes and community facilities that contribute positively to the village.”
He added: “Our residential provision would create a heavily landscaped setting and homes which could accommodate first time buyers, families and the elderly.”
Speaking further, Adam said he believes the scheme will bring “significant benefits” to Kirklevington and the wider area.
