Golf day sees housebuilder raise £510 for charities

Staff from Barratt Developments North East, which includes both Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, have raised £510 through hosting a charity golf day, meaning they have raised a half-year total of £9,410 for their two chosen charities, Tiny Lives and Marie Curie North East.

The event saw teams descend on the fairways and greens of the City of Newcastle Golf Club on 22nd September to drive, chip and putt their way around the course, with all funds raised from the day being equally split between Newcastle-based Tiny Lives, which supports premature and ill newborn babies, and Marie Curie North East. After completing the course, teams were treated to a two-course meal at the club.

The golf day was organised by the housebuilder, which is building developments at various locations across Newcastle, including La Sagesse in Jesmond and City Edge in Blakelaw. It was open to anyone wishing to assist Barratt and David Wilson Homes in supporting its chosen causes, with many organisations that maintain a close working relationship with the housebuilder taking part.

Tom Veitch, Quantity Surveyor at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East, commented: “We’re thrilled at the success of the day and proud to have raised £9,410 for such worthy causes. We’re always looking for new ways to help those less fortunate than ourselves and the funds raised will go directly to two very deserving charities. It was great to see so many people out on the course in the name of charity, but also getting competitive in coming away with as low a score as possible. We’d like to thank all of the individuals and organisations for taking part and helping to ensure the day was a success.”
