Disability charity receives £750 for garden renovation

A charity in Clevedon helping to support families with disabled children has been awarded £750 by Persimmon Homes.

Springboard Opportunity Group is an initiative that offers specialist and skilled aid to families and is looking to renovate its sensory garden.

The garden is used to help the development of youngsters at its facility in Princes Road. The charity was awarded the money via Persimmon Homes Community Champion initiative. It is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match cash they have already raised themselves.

Ann Ramsey, joint CEO for Springboard Opportunity Group, said: “We support children from birth to five years with disabilities and additional needs, as well as their families.

“Families struggle to find the early support they need while coming to terms with their child’s difficulties and it is often very isolating.

“Springboard passionately believes that no family should go through this life-changing experience alone and it has been proven that without skilled and specialist support families are at risk of collapse.

“Our sensory garden is an important part of our facility but after 20 years it needs some renovation. We have been looking to raise funds so the donation from Persimmon Homes is important to us and we thank them for their contribution.”

Nicola Hill, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, added: “Springboard Opportunity Group do fantastic work for families and their children in and around Somerset.

“We heard about their project to modernise their garden and wanted to contribute in any way we could. “I look forward to seeing the work when it is completed.”
