Revealed: The high-growth tech companies chosen for SVC2UK's 2016 Scale Up Club

Some of the UK’s fastest growing technology companies have been selected to take part in the tenth Silicon Valley Comes to the UK programme as part of this year’s Scale Up Club.

The 50 participating firms, which had a total combined revenue of £205m this year, will now join an illustrious list of big UK tech names, including Skyscanner and TransferWise, to have benefitted from SVC2UK’s mentoring and advice programme.

Poq, Adzuna, Dressipi and VentureFounders are some of the London-based names who will be taking part this year at a time when Britain’s digital economy, and London in particular, is creating more businesses than any other sector in the country.

According to research compiled by Oxford Economics, London’s digital firms enjoyed 77% employment growth in the last ten years along with a 90% growth in the number of digital businesses as a whole.

Deputy Mayor for Business, Rajesh Agrawal, commented: “With our unrivalled mix of investors, talent and creativity it is hardly surprising that tech businesses and entrepreneurs are clamouring to be part of London’s tech story. These latest figures underline that London is the best place to invest in tech and how important this sector is as a driver for the UK economy.”

SVC2UK was established by serial entrepreneur Sherry Coutu CBE, Reid Hoffman and Ellen Levy and has been helping high growth UK tech companies scale up since 2006 through its programme of transatlantic events, mentoring and networking initiatives.

This year’s event boasts events in cities including Manchester, Tallinn and San Francisco, along with a mentoring list that includes David Hornik of August Capital and White House Chief Technology Officer Megan Smith.

Ahead of this year’s event, Coutu said: “We see from our own internal data that the UK’s tech and digital industry is growing year on year – and now combined with London & Partners data about tech growth over the last ten years this is resolutely confirmed.

“I am so very proud of what we are doing at SVC2UK and I wish all those included in this year’s Scale Up Club the very best in what will be a challenging yet exhilarating year ahead.”
