Banks Property to showcase 400 home Ponteland development

Banks Property, part of the Banks Group, will be showcasing revised plans for its proposed West Clickemin Farm development, Ponteland, next week.

The planned development will encompass around 400 family homes on a 21 hectare site to the west of the A696 and north of the B6545, at Ponteland Leisure Centre throughout the whole of week commencing Monday 7 November.

Details of the plans will be in place in the Leisure Centre every day between 7am and 10pm throughout the week, with feedback forms being provided for comments.

Members of the project team will also be at the Leisure Centre between 1230pm to 230pm on Monday 7th November, from 10am to noon on Wednesday 9th, and from 1pm to 3pmon Friday 11th to share information on the updated proposals, answers questions from visitors and take feedback on what’s being proposed.

Copies of the revised plans will also be placed in Ponteland Library and the Memorial Hall for viewing.

A planning application is expected to be submitted by Banks Property to Northumberland County Council within the coming months.

Michael Shuttleworth, managing director at Banks Property, said: “There is a clear and increasingly pressing need across the region to increase the available supply of high quality new homes, a need which is especially clear in Ponteland, and we firmly believe that people should have the opportunity to live in the places where they grew up or where they wish to be.

“Over the last few months, we have been working on a number of different aspects of the design for our West Clickemin Farm scheme in Ponteland, and have created a high quality development scheme for what we believe is the most appropriate location in the area for residential development.

“We have made representations to the Northumberland Core Strategy over the last few years on the suitability of this site for this type of scheme, a view which has been backed up by its inclusion in the draft Core Strategy as being suitable for housing as part of a wider mixed use development.

“We are expecting to submit a planning application within the coming months, and are now providing this opportunity for local people, businesses and community groups to view and provide feedback on our proposals before this takes place.

“Alongside new housing, the West Clickemin Farm scheme will also bring a range of community, economic and environmental benefits to the local area, in line with our long-standing ‘development with care’ approach to our business, and we are looking forward to discussing the details of our proposals with local people.”
