Green light given for new West Hull Lidl store
Planning permission has been granted for the construction of a new Lidl supermarket on Brighton Street, West Hull.
The new store, which will transform a former car showroom, will replace an existing Lidl in Hessle Road.
Existing Hessle Road staff are expected to transfer to the new development, whilst 15 new jobs will be created at the site.
The Leeds office of national planning consultancy DPP secured the approval and construction is now due to begin in January 2017.
Michelle Bath, Director at DPP’s Leeds Office, said: “This proposal will improve the shopping offer in this part of West Hull, regenerate a brownfield site and help to increase the footfall and activity to the Hessle Road District Centre.”
The new Brighton Street store is part of the German-headquartered chain’s UK expansion.
