Doncaster Sheffield Airport project selected for Northern Powerhouse portfolio

A 1600 acre investment project near Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been selected as part of the government’s Northern Powerhouse Investment Portfolio.

The Aero Centre Yorkshire (ACY) development, which packages 1600 acres of land around Doncaster Sheffield Airport, offers 5.5m sq ft of potential employment space and includes 10 hectares of Enterprise Zone.

It is hoped the Peel Group investment project could see £6.7bn of cumulative GVA delivered to the Sheffield City Region, creating around 14,000 direct and indirect jobs, with the land earmarked for uses such as advanced manufacturing, industrial units, commercial and residential developments, and logistics operations.

Now the project has been added to the government’s Northern Powerhouse Investment Portfolio which was announced yesterday (10 November) by the Northern Powerhouse Minister, Andrew Percy.

The portfolio, which has backing from the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, encompasses 13 projects from across the North which will be showcased by the government during international trade missions to drive investment across the Northern Powerhouse.
