Keepmoat launches £47m West Cheshire housing scheme
A £47m residential scheme offering West Cheshire’s first affordable council properties in almost 40 years has come to market.
The Woodford Grange development will create 401 new properties on the 30-acre brownfield site once home to Woodford Lodge High School.
Keepmoat, the housebuilder behind the development, is delivering 130 of the homes on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The properties comprise a mix of two-, three- and four-bed builds.
Gareth Roberts, Keepmoat’s North West regional managing director, commented: “This project has been in development for some time and we have worked incredibly closely with the council to identify exactly what was needed in the area.”
The 401-home figure, Gareth said, represents “a major feat” and “goes a long way in terms of eradicating the housing crisis we are facing”.
He continued: “But we don’t want to just build for the sake of building – we need to make sure we are building the right homes that will benefit the wider community.
“As well as a prolonged absence of council housing for local people, there was a clear need for more high quality and affordable homes that would support first time buyers in Winsford; so we’re delighted to now have a presence on site for interested purchasers.”
A green corridor and small village garden will make up the centrepiece of the development.
Last month, Keepmoat used off-site construction techniques to accelerate the delivery of accommodation for students at the University of Cumbria.
