The IDEAS Bus - The Delivery of EdTech Across UK Schools launches!

In order to give our children the best possible start, we need our schools to give them the best possible technology education.

In order to sustain and grow the UK technology industry, we need an education system which produces students with world-class knowledge and skills.

While these two sectors should be working symbiotically for a mutually beneficial future, there is currently a disconnect: teachers don’t have the time or the resources to research and deliver the latest tech; industry insiders don’t have the access to demonstrate their goods to educators. The IDEAS Bus has been created to close that gap.

Launched by the Fresh Group of Companies, The IDEAS Bus is a mobile technology showcase specifically tailored to the needs of educational establishments. Devised as a means to enable educators to stay in touch with the latest technological advances including Virtual Reality, 3D Printers and Cloud Solutions which may be of benefit to their pupils,the free-to-use service is now touring schools, providing information and product demonstrations of the very latest tech releases, saving teachers time and effort.

As a form of intermediary, The IDEAS Bus also provides a route for tech industry specialists to reach a genuinely interested new market, without the annoyance of unsolicited correspondence, or ‘hard sell’ tactics.

‘The core idea behind The IDEAS Bus is to unite educators and the tech industry for the benefit of students,’ explains Casey Farquharson, the driving force behind the project. ‘Schools need to stay ahead of the game if they’re going to give their pupils a chance to compete on the international jobs market, while the UK tech industry can only succeed long-term if we can produce the talent necessary to drive it forward.

‘I’ve worked with computers and technology for over 25 years and within education for 12 years. It was seeing the difficulties that schools have in staying up to date which inspired The IDEAS Bus – teachers have such a desire to do the best they can for their students, but they often lack the means. That’s where we come in.’

The ethos of the project is one of shared knowledge and shared resources for a positive future, and in that vein The IDEAS Bus will also be hosting a series of fundraising events for local charities throughout the course of the next year.
