Waste management machinery firm Whitham Mills secures UAE contract

Whitham Mills, a designer and manufacturer of waste management machinery, has secured a new contract with one of the authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Todmorden-based firm was appointed by the government of Ras al-Khaimah, the northernmost of the seven emirates making up the UAE, to provide waste-processing machinery at one of its materials recovery facilities (MRF).

The deal is the latest in a string of export contracts for Whitham Mills. It saw the company install a GB1108 baler able to process as much as 12 tonnes of material per hour, in addition to a 6000 lb feed conveyor.

Ben Smart, managing director at Whitham Mill, said he is pleased with the firm’s growth into international markets.

He commented: “This contract is the latest in a succession of export deals for Whitham Mills.

“Part of our growth strategy has always been to take our reputation for providing reliable and cost effective recycling solutions to a global marketplace.”

He continued: “Recently we have been sought out to deliver waste processing machinery in Norway, France and Germany.”

“We’re now looking for distribution partners to work with on the continent and would invite interested parties to get in touch.”

Speaking further, Ben said it is likely Whitham Mills will secure further work in the UAE following the success of the project in Ras al-Khaimah.
