New UK Business Manager appointed at JRI Orthopaedics

Multi-award winning health care company JRI Orthopaedics has appointed a new UK Business Manager.

Alistair Wheatley brings a wealth of experience in the medical devices and orthopaedic sector, having worked for most of his career in senior sales positions in UK-based healthcare organisations.

He was previously UK Sales Director for Biomet and then Zimmer Biomet which followed 10 years with Exactech, helping to build the UK business including several major product launches.

In joining JRI Orthopaedics, Alistair is returning to his Sheffield roots. “This is a brilliant opportunity to help drive a British company to greatness.

“JRI Orthopaedics has a fantastic history which I am very keen to build on. The company has never quite realized its full potential but I can see phenomenal possibilities for future development and growth.

“My father was a commercial director for British Steel and I think his huge belief in the power of British engineering and manufacturing has been passed down.

“It is really humbling to walk on to the production floor here and see guys who have been with the company for over 30 years and still having so much pride in what they do.”

JRI Orthopaedics is based at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chapeltown and has world-class expertise in the design, development and manufacture of orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments.

Founded on innovation, it was the first company in world orthopedics to produce a hip implant with a Hydroxyapatite coating enabling a biological bond with the patient’s bone and so the prospect of a hip for life.

Its current expanding product portfolio is designed with and for surgeons, to help them deliver the best solutions in joint reconstruction, repair and regeneration.

JRI Orthopaedics is also, uniquely, wholly owned by the charity Orthopaedic Research UK (ORUK) and donates its profits to ORUK to fund research into bone and joint disease at centres of excellence across the UK.

Alistair added: “This is a brilliant company with great products and a great ethical ethos. The Furlong has always been the best uncemented hip on the market. I want us to lead the way in neck of femur fracture management and to have a bigger impact in the orthopaedic market with cutting edge products in wider areas such as orthobiologics and regenerative medicine.”
