Housebuilder contributes almost £1million to projects in Wetherby
Local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, will donate almost £1million to support local projects and community improvements in Wetherby as part of its upcoming Templars Chase development.
The contributions will be put towards facilities close to its Sandbeck Lane site and the funding includes over £21,000 going towards off-site bus stop improvements, £52,808 to a sustainable travel fund, £889,595 to community infrastructure and further contributions to a new layby to deter illegal HGV parking along Hudson Way.
The funding highlights the developer’s commitment to investing in the local communities where it builds. Templars Chase will be David Wilson Homes’ first development in Wetherby for many years - an 11-acre site, delivering 111 new dwellings to meet the continuing demand for good quality homes in this area of North Leeds.
David Coe, Development Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented:
“As well as building new homes, it’s our aim to also support and enhance local communities, so we hope these contributions will go a long way towards improving the lives of people who live in Wetherby, along with those who become residents at our upcoming development. This is the first site we will deliver under the new Leeds City Council Community Infrastructure Levy regime and as such, David Wilson Homes is contributing funds for every square metre of new development delivered, which will be spent on key infrastructure across the local area and Leeds City boundary. We are excited to see the new development taking shape over the coming months and to deliver much needed homes in Wetherby.”
Templars Chase will be a semi-rural development of 3 and 4 bedroom homes with views across open countryside, a short walk from Wetherby town centre.
