Former British Army officers launch Newcastle-based security firm

Two security experts from military backgrounds in the British Army have announced the launch of their own independent security consultancy, RedBox Security Solutions Ltd.

Joanna Stanley and Paul Harris have combined their expertise to start the bespoke security and risk management service,

Based in Brunswick Industrial Estate, Newcastle, the bespoke security and risk management service is the brainchild of Joanna Stanley and Paul Harris.

The duo say the new business specialises in assisting businesses and individuals to manage security risks in their workplaces and homes.

The company also provides consultancy and analysis, as well as handling sensitive issues and offering in-house guidance on security and risk management issues.

Directors Joanna and Paul are bringing multiple skills from their heavily security-driven backgrounds to their roles at RedBox.

Paul is ex-British Army, having served firstly as an infantry soldier in the Coldstream Guards and secondly as a non-commissioned officer in The Royal Military Police (RMP).

He has more than 25 years of experience within the security industry, spending many of those years in hostile and volatile environments, providing Close Protection services to high profile clients.

After gaining a Master of Science degree in Security Management, Paul felt that this was the appropriate time in his career to start a business within the security sector.

Fellow director Joanna has gained a wealth of experience through her work within the security print industry, in the highest-level security environment, delivering support for Governmental-level clients.

Prior to that, Joanna spent six years in the British Army and in the internal audit profession, equipping her with a range of skills for security consultancy and security audit processes. In her spare time she has also worked as a special constable for Durham Constabulary.

Joanna hails from the North East, but moved away from the region whilst serving in the Army, and now lives in Cramlington. Paul, who lives in Newcastle, is originally from Plymouth and has lived in the North East since 2004.

Paul said: “We decided to launch RedBox because we believe there is no other provider in the North East that can deliver an exclusive, high quality range of services in the same way that we can.

“With our military career backgrounds, and our combined knowledge and expertise, we are uniquely placed to advise businesses and individuals about their security requirements.

“This industry is always evolving, and it’s an exciting time to be a part of it. We’re looking forward to introducing a range of innovative services to our clients, such as Virtual Security Management – a cost effective alternative to the traditional in-house security function.

“We also hope that our bespoke approach will go some way to assist in professionalising the security sector. We will be providing solutions with an ethical methodology – always with a strong focus on enhancing client satisfaction and employee-partnership interaction and trust.”
