Planning futures at Rainford High
Rainford High Technology College has been preparing pupils for the future with help from some of the North West’s top industry professionals.
Over 30 expert exhibitors attended the school’s careers fair last week (17 November), which was organised to help inform pupils from Year 9 to Year 12 who are currently making important choices about their futures.
During the event, pupils were able to explore a range of career and further education opportunities, with representatives attending from some of the region’s top universities, further education centres, and training providers.
The exhibitor list included representatives from the University of Manchester, Myerscough College and Careers Connect, as well as the school’s own sixth form centre.
Pupils were also able to hear about alternative career routes and apprenticeship opportunities from exhibitors such as Waterside Training, GMLPF (Greater Merseyside Learning Providers Federation), Skills for Health, and the Armed Forces.
Danny Hubball, assistant principal, says: “Choosing a future career path can certainly be an overwhelming prospect for many young people, and so we are delighted that so many industry professionals have joined us to offer up their expertise and industry insight to pupils.
“As pupils start to think about the pivotal choices which will shape their futures, it is so important that they are given all of the relevant support, information and guidance to help to inform that decision. The careers fair will help to show pupils that there are a vast number of routes open to them, and that both further education options and apprenticeship schemes are excellent platforms to the career of their choice.”
