Chief Executive of Transport for the North to speak at Northumbria Uni next month
Members of the public are being invited to hear about the future of Transport in the North East, from one of the country’s top infrastructure experts
Speaking at the Institution of Civil Engineers’ (ICE) 125th Anniversary Prestige Lecture, Chief Executive of Transport for the North David Brown will discuss infrastructure and connectivity across the North.
ICE’s events are usually only open to its 86,000 members, of which there are more than 2,000 in the North East. Because this Prestige Lecture celebrates the institution being in the region for 125 years, and due to considerable public interest in the topics of transport and the Northern Powerhouse, ICE has decided to open it to the public.
ICE Regional Director Penny Marshall said: “We are delighted to open up our 125th anniversary Prestige Lecture to the people of the North East.
“Transport for the North has the potential to be a transformative force for the whole North of England, so what David has to say is extremely relevant to the economic and social future of our region.
“With changes expected to Government policy on infrastructure and questions to be answered about the Northern Powerhouse, this talk will be extremely informative.”
The lecture is from 17:45 to 21:00 on Tuesday 6th December, at the Great Hall in Northumbria University’s Sutherland Building.
