Keepmoat to undertake £4.5m Tees Valley tower block project
Keepmoat, the community regeneration and housebuilding firm, has won a contract to refurbish a group of high-rise tower blocks in the Tees Valley.
Selected as preferred contractor on behalf of housing provider Thirteen Group, Keepmoat will regenerate Prior & Melsonby Court and Dawson House in Billingham, alongside Jupiter Court in Middlesbrough, early next year.
Improvements to residential accommodation will include safety-focused efforts such as the installation and upgrade of the smoke ventilation, emergency lighting, and lift and fire alarm systems alongside the replacement of all the soil and vent pipes on each tower block.
The communal space on the ground floor will also undergo a transformation; with the internal space set to be remodelled, potentially leading to the provision of additional accommodation within each tower block.
David Ward, regional managing director for Keepmoat in the North, said: “Keepmoat has a positive track record of delivering high quality regeneration projects in the region, which have made aesthetic enhancements to the area, while drastically improving the home life of its residents.
“We are passionate about engaging with and involving residents in all of our refurbishment schemes and have proven expertise in the delivery of projects, with residents in situ.
“While there is a strong and much needed focus on the provision of new homes across the country, Keepmoat is also committed to making improvements to existing homes. It’s fantastic that we share this vision with our partners at the Thirteen Group.”
Paul Jenkins, head of asset for Thirteen Group, added: “Thirteen Group’s mission is to continue to provide great homes, support & opportunities to grow.
“We look forward to working again with Keepmoat, a trusted partner of Thirteen Group, on these vitally important investment schemes.”
