Newcastle's Opencast Software launches 30-strong recruitment drive
Newcastle-based tech firm Opencast Software is on a recruitment drive to make 30 new hires, after winning contracts with HMRC, the NHS and two of the world’s biggest banks.
Hosting an open event this evening, November 24, to meet potential new employees, available roles range from developers and scrum and agile experts to testers and project managers.
Opencast specialises in developing enterprise software for global businesses and on the digitisation of government data and services.
Expecting to grow its annual turnover by £2m to £5.5m next year, the business plans to employ a total of 90 staff members following the recruitment process.
Recent months have seen the company win new contracts with two global banks, one headquartered in New York and the other in London, as well as a UK-wide insurance firm, HMRC and the NHS.
Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Mike O’Brien, the owner has since been joined at the helm by MD Carl Shovlin, head of client services Steven Lumley and Fiona McDonald, head of technology.
Mike said: “Demand has been highest for software for government departments and also financial services firms.
“The calibre of our staff and the cutting-edge development processes we use have been instrumental in our success.”
Carl Shovlin added: “Over recent years, our clients and the larger consultancies have realised that collaboration with smaller, more agile software businesses is a key part of the hugely complex process of delivering enterprise technology projects and change.
“Opencast uses a model which is an ideal fit for clients in the ever-changing, fast-moving enterprise technology environment.”
Opencast, is hosting a ‘hang out’ for potential new employees at Centurion Bar snug from 4.30pm to 7.30pm tonight.
