Housing Units announces £5m expansion plans
The UK’s premier home furnishings centre, Housing Units, has been granted planning permission for the £1.5m expansion of its distribution centre – the first phase of ambitious expansion plans for 2017.
The extension will increase the building to 100,000 sq. ft., catering for significant growth in the Manchester-based store’s retail and online sales. Works are estimated to be complete by September 2017.
The award-winning business plans to invest £5m into the expansion of both logistics and retail facilities in 2017. This includes plans to increase retail space by 26,000 sq. ft., and create a brand-new dining experience.
Nick Fox, CEO at Housing Units, commented: “The expansion of our distribution centre will support rising consumer demand both in store and online, allowing us to increase stock levels and boost our delivery service.
“2016 has been a strong year for Housing Units, and in 2017 our focus will be on growing and improving the facilities and services on offer. Watch this space.”
Housing Units increased staff numbers to 300 in 2016, and is preparing to celebrate its 70th year in business in March next year.
