Keyland secures land sale for Richmond residential development

Keyland Developments Ltd, the property trading arm of Kelda Group and sister-company to Yorkshire Water, has agreed the sale of a redundant service reservoir site on Whashton Road in Richmond, North Yorkshire.

Leeds-based Rouse Homes Ltd purchased the site for it to be transformed into a development of 19 new family homes.

Keyland Developments and Rouse Homes Ltd have secured planning consent from Richmondshire District Council to regenerate the redundant 2.5 acre site with frontage on to Whashton Road into a residential development in order to assist the Council’s requirements for new local housing provision to meet high demand.

The site was identified as prime location for a low density residential development to contribute to the long-term regeneration and sustainability of the town due to its suburban setting, with Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club to the north of the site, the former Richmond Racecourse to the west and adjacent housing to the east.

Rouse Homes Ltd will now bring forward a mix of market and affordable 3, 4 and 5 bedroom family homes. Built of local natural stone with slate roofs, the development will include a comprehensive landscaping scheme.

Work is expected to start on site in December this year with the first homes ready for occupation late 2017, and completion set for May 2018.

Ryan Unsworth, development manager at Keyland Developments Ltd, said: “We are pleased to have secured planning permission to bring this vacant site back into use for the benefit of the local community.

“The land sale to Rouse Homes Ltd will ensure that the development is delivered by a well-respected team, resulting in a much-needed addition to the housing requirements of the popular Richmond area.”

Tony Watling, director at Rouse Homes Ltd, continued: “We are delighted to be able to offer a range of quality family homes in this beautiful location and, from the enquiries already received, we are confident they will be a welcome addition to Richmond’s housing provision.”
