TIS Win at Security & Fire Excellence Awards

An ‘innovative and exciting’ integrated fire and security project has led to an award win for Nottinghamshire firm TIS.

TIS - The UK’s leading independent fire, security and communication specialists - won the prestigious ‘Combined Security & Fire Solution of the Year’ at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2016.

The ceremony was held at a black-tie ball at the London Hilton Park Lane on November 23. TIS beat off competition from eight other companies to win the award, which highlights the incredible pool of talent that TIS has and shows why it continues to grow in a competitive market sector.

Managing director of combined services, James Twigg, said: “To have received national recognition at such renowned awards for our innovation, technical and design ability and also our professional installation is overwhelming for the whole team. They all work tirelessly to create solutions that exceed our clients’ expectations and this accolade is testament to them.”

In its eighteenth year, the Security & Fire Excellence Awards have consistently broken new ground in highlighting the very best people, projects and processes that the security and fire sectors have to offer. Hosted by TV comedian Jimmy Carr, the awards help recognise the achievements of the most innovative reliable and cost-effective products, services and solutions spanning a wide range of fields across fire and security, the Security & Fire Excellence Awards are an annual highlight for the entire industry.

The category required TIS to showcase their most innovative and exciting integrated fire and security project. The intricate detail and complex technological aspect of the Bournville Gardens Retirement Village project seamlessly met the requirements along with the integration of ‘Smart Building Converged Infrastructure’ demonstrated for the cutting-edge development.

The winning entry illustrated how TIS have been instrumental in a technological revolution within the social care sector. Working closely with existing clients they developed their branded ‘Smart Building Converged Infrastructure’, which provides a security, fire and communications infrastructure that is cost effective and designed to future proof the installation.

Opened in 2015, Bournville Gardens Retirement Village is part of the £60 million College Green development that provides 212 spacious homes set within a stunning complex, an 80-bed care home, 16-cottage style homes for the elderly, and a health and well-being centre. The facilities are at the heart of this state-of-the-art, sustainable community that benefits over 300 older people, encouraging social and active participation amongst all age groups within the local neighbourhood.

Several years of design work, which included; demonstrations, technical submissions, consultations, and value engineering, resulted in the development and eventual installation of the firm’s dual fibre infrastructure within ExtraCare Charitable Trusts Flagship Retirement Village.
