Warrington’s Mini-Cam expands international reach with Central and South America deal

Tech firm Mini-Cam has given its global reach a boost by appointing its first distributor for Central and South America.

The tie-up with Madrid-based Mejoras Energeticas, which is also Mini-Cam’s partner in Portugal and Spain, will give the pipeline inspection equipment specialist access to markets in Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Belize.

In addition to looking after sales, Mejoras will handle clients’ servicing needs and the supply of spare parts.

The deal means that Warrington-based Mini-Cam now operates in 40 countries.

Sven Breitenfeld, the firm’s international sales manager, said: “Following our launch of new product ranges earlier this year, we have an excellent opportunity to grow our overseas business.

“Countries in Central and South America are developing their infrastructure at a rapid rate. Their cities are growing fast, and that is leading to increased demand for fresh and clean water and huge investment to improve their sewer networks.”

He added: “Alongside that, pollution and water issues are on the wider political agendas in those regions, so it is important for us to have a presence there.”

Speaking further, Sven said Mejoras is the “ideal partner” for Mini-Cam as the company embarks on the next stage of its international expansion strategy.

Mini-Cam was founded in 1991 by Nigel Wilson. In the last year the firm has seen its exports soar, with overseas sales now accounting for 48% of its total revenue.

In the 12 months to January 31 2016, the company turned over £10.6m.

Mini-Cam creates hi-tech pipeline inspection systems used by water and wastewater businesses and contractors to record and transmit footage in underground surveys.

The firm also supplies to clients in the oil and gas, construction, engineering and petrochemical sectors.
