Amber House are Taking Care of Welfare

Amber House promotes good health and psychological wellbeing with the appointment of an Educational Psychologist, Keith Howie, to support and proactively deal with the long-term effects of mental health and the reduction of drugs (prescription) in use to manage mental health conditions.

Keith is a specialist educational psychologist employed on a consultancy basis to give advice, training and support to Amber House working across a range of areas to develop behaviour strategies and support plans to maintain the welfare and mental health of service users and staff.

Jane Sweeting, registered manager at Amber House says: “Quality of life is very important to us. Many people my not consider mental health to be part of that but for us it is extremely important we have the tools and skills to look after mental hygiene, especially when many of our service users find it difficult to articulate how they feel.”

Amber House is a small provider of residential, personal, day, respite care and supported living for people with learning disabilities and those affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder 52 weeks a year for adults over the age of 18. They are dedicated to improving the opportunities available for young adults in their care, especially improving the understanding and awareness of their work in the wider community.
