Promising construction career thanks to David Wilson Homes

Local construction enthusiast Thomas Talman (20) has been given a head start in his bricklaying career - thanks to support from David Wilson Homes.

Thomas, who recently completed his Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying at Fareham Technology Collage, was invited to gain some experience at the housebuilder’s new Oakhill Gardens development in Swanmore, which is due to launch in November this year. And his enthusiasm during his time helping out on site was so impressive that it has resulted in him being given a full time job with one of the housebuilder’s contractors.

“We feel it’s important to offer local people starting out in the construction industry, the opportunity to find out more about their chosen careers,” said Anthony Dimmick, David Wilson Homes community liaison manager.

“Thomas has been helping build our new show homes at Oakhill Gardens. He’s made an excellent contribution to the construction work here, and I’m delighted his experience led to him being offered employment with our sub contractor.

“Gaining ‘real world’ experience is particularly valuable for college graduates, and I am pleased David Wilson Homes was able to help with that. I’d like to wish Thomas all the very best in his new career.”

Thomas Talman added: “After graduating from college I had limited opportunity locally but work experience on the Swanmore site has given me the confidence I needed to get into full-time employment.

“I’ve now been given a start, I’m enjoying the work and now looking forward to progressing my career in construction.”

Oakhill Gardens will feature an impressive selection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, in the sought-after Meon Valley area of East Hampshire.
