Screwfix to anchor 32,000 sq ft Liverpool trade scheme
DIY trade supplier Screwfix has been unveiled as the anchor tenant for the new 32,000 sq ft Mill Lane Trade Park scheme in Liverpool.
The company signed a lease on a 7,000 sq ft unit, the largest within the development, and will join seven other local firms when it launches in the coming weeks.
Developer The Derwent Group created the 17-unit Mill Lane Trade Park off Edge Lane for the former tenants of Binns Road Industrial Estate.
With the companies relocated to Mill Lane Trade Park, Derwent will be able to turn the former Edge Lane Retail Park and surrounding land into the £100m Liverpool Shopping Park.
Once complete, the project will create 3,000 jobs and house 41 retailers across the biggest shopping park in the UK.
David Lyons, group chief exec at Derwent, said: “From the outset we were keen to make sure that Binns Roads Industrial Estate businesses, many of which have been established in Liverpool for many years, could stay local.
“Mill Lane Trade Park allows us to fulfil our promise to those businesses and sees them relocated to brand new, purpose built premises.”
He added: “The arrival of a national brand in Screwfix will help to increase awareness of the park and its businesses and will create strong trading conditions for everyone. We’re delighted to welcome them.”
Screwfix’s director of property, Richard Ward, commented: “Mill Lane Trade Park gives us a prime location to serve this part of Liverpool and beyond and we’re keen to welcome tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts to the new store.”
