Sea of opportunities for Europa in 2017
Europa Air & Sea - a division of ambitious logistics operator, Europa Worldwide Group, is flying high after a record year and forecasts 2017 will be a ‘year of more profitable opportunities’.
Improved cost and operational efficiencies, coupled with the success of standalone business development and account managers’ teams, has seen Europa Air & Sea register record growth numbers in 2016.
These changes have led to a very strong operational performance, boosted by new business and a rise in volumes by existing customers. Europa Air achieved its highest recorded volume during Q3 while sea freight has seen a double digit growth in its year-on-year volume.
Angus Hind, director of Europa Air & Sea, said: “This has been an outstanding year for the division. Aligning our business to meet the needs of customers has proved pivotal in our performance this year. While there have been challenges to the UK economy, we are seeing no let-up in demand for our services and this demonstrates our understanding of the sector and commitment to be swift in our delivery of high client service.”
Brexit is also presenting commercial opportunities for growth at Europa Air & Sea. Angus added: “The slide in sterling has made the UK more attractive for overseas buyers and we have seen a positive effect on both our Air & Sea export volumes. The flip side is a strong dollar has made imports more expensive.
“But as we enter the peak season, we have not experienced any significant downturn in imports and new trade deals will be more accessible as the UK negotiates to trade independently of the EU. New emerging markets and the Asia-Europe trade routes also present growth opportunities for us.”
Looking further ahead, Angus believes plans for the third runway at Heathrow, where Europa has a base, will be good for business. He said: “Personally I think the right decision has been made. Heathrow is not only the leading airport in the UK, but also Europe. The added capacity brought by the new runway will add both new passenger and cargo routes which is needed for our economic growth.”
Europa is a member of the FETA Freight Systems International Network (FFSI), a global agent network of companies offering the full spectrum of transport services.
As well as its successful Air & Sea freight operation Europa Worldwide Group also provides specialist road, warehouse and showfreight services.
