Body camera tech firm secures contract with Asia Pacific enforcement agency

A London-based surveillance technology firm, which has developed a body-worn security camera, has secured a string of significant contact wins with law enforcement and government agencies around the globe.

Digital Barriers announced the three contract wins, totalling £1.75m, to the stock exchange this morning.

The largest of the three will see an unnamed Asia Pacific law enforcement agency utilise its body-worn video surveillance technology in a multi-year deal worth £1m.

It is the first major contract win since Digital Barriers released the technology.

Further contracts include a counter-terrorism framework agreement, worth an initial €0.35m but rising to a potential €3.5m, with the European Ministry of Defence for the group’s facial recognition technology, and a £0.4m contract with a Middle Eastern government agency for its surveillance system.

Zak Doffman, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Barriers, said the deals marked an ‘important moment’ for the business after only launching its body-worn cameras and facial recognition systems this year.

He said: “the deals should act as a reference point for other customers, helping to drive material revenues over the coming years.

“This year we have built strong relationships in APAC and EMEA with major government clients, looking to further embed our solutions across an ever broader client base.

“These contract wins, all of which are with new customers, are a clear indication of that progress and we are now focused on converting a strong pipeline and generating follow-on sales for our full suite of solutions.”

It has been a year of robust growth for the security and surveillance firm, having announced a raft of multi-million pound contracts with law enforcement agencies in the US and global outsourcer G4S.
